NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
TOWN OF NELSON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law and Town Law, there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Nelson, New York, at a regular meeting thereof held on December 12, 2024, proposed Local Law No. G-2024, titled, “A Local Law Extending for an Additional Period of Six (6) Months the Moratorium on the Establishment of Commercial Wind Energy Facilities within the Town of Nelson.” Said Local Law, if enacted, would extend the prohibition of the placement, construction or erection of a commercial wind energy facility within the Town of Nelson and/or the processing or further processing of such applications for an additional period of six (6) months. The full text of said Local Law is on file at the Town Clerk’s Office at the Nelson Town Office located at 4085 Nelson Road, Cazenovia, New York 13035 for inspection by all interested persons.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that this Local Law will extend the existing moratorium on commercial wind energy facilities for an additional six (6) months to enable the Town of Nelson to undertake a review and comprehensively address the issues involved with commercial wind energy facilities that are becoming increasingly popular within the Town of Nelson.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that on December 12, 2024, the Town Board declared itself to be lead agency and determined that this proposed Local Law is a Type II Action and determined that the action will have no significant adverse impact on the environment for purposes of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the Town Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed Local Law at the Nelson Town Office located at 4085 Nelson Road, Cazenovia, New York 13035 on January 9, 2025 at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, at which time all persons interested will be heard.
