Town of Nelson Land Use Regulation Summary:

Restricted Use and Parking of Travel Trailers and
Motor Homes (Local Law No. 2 of 2011: Section 704)
The following description is for Travel Trailers and or Motor Homes and
intended to be a helpful summery.
Land Use Section Summery of Regulation
704.1 No Travel Trailer or Motor Home can be used for long term
residential Use
704.1a. A Travel Trailer or Motor Home may be parked at a licensed
campground
704.1b. Travel Trailer or Motor Home Temporary use cannot exceed 30
cumulative days/year
704.2 The owner of a Travel Trailer or Motor Home may store a
single travel trailer on their property if it is behind the front face of
the principal building and no closer than 6 feet of any lot line.
If located within a waterfront zone it cannot be parked closer, then
50 feet to the lake high water line.
704.3. After December 31, 2022 You cannot park a Travel Trailer or
Motor Home on unimproved lot.
704.4. Prior to December 31, 2022 a Travel Trailer or Motor Home could
be parked on an unimproved lot meeting conditions within the
land use regulations.
704.5. You cannot park a Travel Trailer or Motor Home on a public road
or public place between sunrise and sunset.
704.6. You need a permit to park Construction trailers on a construction
site.
